Dr Lelau Mohuba is a retired medical doctor after 22 years of distinguished service. He cut his teeth in the mining industry back in 2004 when he joined Boynton Platinum as their Business Development director. He assisted the platinum group towards its dual listing both in London (AIM) and Toronto (TSX) in 2005. He then confounded Sephaku Holdings in 2005 and drove the process of successfully listing it on the JSE as its founding chairman. He was the founding chairman of Sephaku Cement in 2008 and managed to attract Aliko Dangote as a partner in SA; who is now the current chair.

He is the founding chairman of SepFluor Ltd; a Fluorspar mining company in SA. He is also chairman of Union Atlantic Minersls (JSE listed. And chairman of Taung Gold Ltd; a South African subsidiary of a Hong Kong listed Taung Gold International (HKSe).

Moya who draws his inspiration from innovation and global trends, has spent most of his adult life as an entrepreneur, businessman and philanthropist who is constantly inspired by innovation. He has received many accolades and gained international recognition and business expertise across various sectors including security, technology, transport, engineering and many more. An astute visionary, Moya has been in the oil and gas since 2000 at Imvume Resources as an apprentice and went up the ranks until he formed New Horizon Energy in 2005.

In NHE he has done wholesaling and distribution of paraffin and gas to households, diesel to small-scale farmers, logistics companies and mines. He has since moved on to an even bigger role of heading up some pioneering multi million dollar projects in oil and gas industry.

Thomo’s extensive relationship with the trading goes back over 10 years, with experience in oil and gas commodities. With B. Sc: Mechanical Engineering and Honours: Bachelor of Business Management & Administration.This is in addition to the corporate career. One of the highlights of his career is where he managed the strategic stock on behalf of the government of South Africa.

He negotiated and traded in crude oil with various oil producing countries and established a wide network of international traders. He was responsible to trade and manage the only South African crude oil production from the Oribi field. He later headed the South African office of one of the largest oil and gas engineering company in the world, TECHNIP; reporting to Lyon in France. During his tenure at Technip he was involved in various projects including the R4 Billion Sasol Propylene Plant Project in Secunda. He has a practical and full understanding of all the risk associated with commodity trading and all the logistics involved in moving the commodities around the world.

Bafana obtained BSc (Hons) Engineering and MBA degrees from UCT, with extensive international working experience in technical sales, business development, government, foreign direct investments while at the DTI, government relations, etc. Additionally, he is 4IR-ready, since completing Data Science and other relevant courses through IBM; as well as a completed a Sustainability Leadership Programme from the University of Cambridge. He was a Sales Engineer at The Timken Company in RSA and France, where he received proprietary technical as well as financial and commercial training. He has worked for the Industrial Development Corporation, doing deal making, financial modelling, feasibility studies, due diligence, investment risk management, etc.

Among other companies, he spent nine years at Sasol. He is an excellent negotiator and very passionate about mentoring and coaching. During his Economic Diplomacy tour of duty in India, he visited and engaged several pharmaceutical companies such as Ranbaxy, Cipla, Himalaya, etc. He managed to recruit some of their major companies to invest in South Africa within the steel, telecommunications, fertilizers, industries, etc. He was involved in Strategy and Enterprise Development at Barloworld Equipment. Bafana is very passionate about technology, figures, sales, solving complex problems, skilled in strategy and business planning. He is also excellent at networking and negotiations and communications. He enjoys coaching and mentoring SMME’s.

He was admitted on the IDC’s panel of Senior Technical Experts and a business mentor through The Innovation Hub.
